Jeff Ritter

Photographer

Jeff Ritter is a Columbus native and Capital University graduate.

He began his career as a part-time truck operator at WSYX/WTTE.  After one year on the job, he was hired there as a full time news photographer.  Then, after five years on the job, he was hired at 10TV in 2004.

Ritter said the piece he is most proud of, to date, was following a postman on his final days at work after 50 years on the job.  Ritter said it took two days of getting to the post office by 5 a.m. to put together "One Postman's New Route."

"Everyone has a story that can be told," Ritter said.  "Through unique shot composition and crisp natural sound, I strive to tell the best story I possibly can."

Ritter enjoys watching movies, which gives him ideas for his job.  His favorites include "Star Wars" and "Lord Of The Rings."

Awards/Honors:
Ritter said he has fortunate enough to be awarded numerous Emmys, Associated Press, Ohio News Photographers Association, Society of Professional Journalists awards, including Associated Press Best Photographer in 2006, Dispatch Media Group's Best Photography in 2005 and 2006.
